Data Deletion Policy
Last updated: 29 April 2026
1. Your right to delete
Picrly respects your right to control your data. You can delete individual videos, your entire account, or both. This page explains exactly what gets deleted, what doesn’t, and how to request it.
2. What we hold about you
For an active Picrly account, our systems hold:
- Account profile: email, display name, profile photo (if Google sign-in), first/last name, use-case, account creation timestamp, plan tier and history.
- Projects: every project you’ve created, including title, aspect ratio, scene order, scripts, captions, zoom rectangles, and per-scene durations.
- Uploaded screenshots: image files you uploaded into scenes, stored in Firebase Storage in Mumbai (
asia-south1). - Voice MP3s: AI-synthesized narration files, cached so you don’t pay twice for the same line.
- Render history: metadata for each rendered video — project ID, status, aspect ratio, quality, watermark flag, render duration.
- Rendered MP4 files: the final video output, stored on AWS S3 in Mumbai (
ap-south-1). - Usage counters: monthly render and TTS character consumption.
- Billing records: Razorpay subscription/payment IDs, plan history, payment timestamps, amounts paid.
3. Delete a single video / project
You can do this yourself in the app, no email needed:
- Go to your dashboard.
- Hover (or tap) on the project card you want to delete. A trash icon appears in the bottom-right of the card.
- Click the trash icon. Confirm in the dialog that opens.
The action is immediate and removes:
- The project document from Firestore;
- All uploaded screenshots from Firebase Storage;
- All AI-generated voice MP3s for that project;
- All render-history records pointing at that project.
We do keep the rendered MP4 file on AWS S3 so any picrly.com/v/{id}share URLs you’ve already shared with others continue to work. To take down a specific share URL, email hello@picrly.com with the URL.
4. Delete your entire account
4.1 In-app (preferred)
Account-deletion-from-settings is rolling out. Until it ships, use the email path below.
4.2 Email request
Send an email to hello@picrly.com with subject “Delete my account”, from the email address on your Picrly account, including:
- The email on your Picrly account (so we can match it);
- A clear confirmation that you want full account deletion;
- (Optional) Whether you also want existing share URLs taken down. By default we keep them live so links you’ve sent stay functional, but we will take them down on request.
We acknowledge within 2 business days and complete deletion within 30 days.
4.3 What gets deleted on full account deletion
- Your Firebase Authentication identity (email, UID, display name);
- All Firestore documents under
users/{your-uid}— profile, settings, plan history, projects, scenes, render history, usage counters; - All Firebase Storage objects under your user path (screenshots, voice MP3s);
- By default, rendered MP4s on AWS S3 are retained so existing share URLs keep working. Tell us in the email if you want them removed too.
4.4 What we must retain by law
Under the Indian Income-Tax Act and RBI rules for online merchants, we are required to retain records of payment transactions for 8 years from the date of transaction, even after the underlying account is deleted. These records contain:
- Razorpay payment ID, subscription ID, order ID;
- Date, amount, currency, plan tier purchased;
- The original email on the account at the time of purchase.
They do not contain your project content, screenshots, scripts, voice MP3s, or any rendered video. We cannot waive this retention; it is a statutory obligation.
4.5 What you should also do yourself
- Revoke Google OAuth permission if you signed in with Google: visit myaccount.google.com/permissions and remove Picrly.
- Cancel any active Razorpay subscription from your billing page before requesting deletion, so no further charges occur.
- Clear browser data for picrly.com if you want to wipe locally cached preferences.
5. Soft delete window
For 30 days after a full account deletion request, your data is soft-deleted(marked deleted but still recoverable). If you change your mind within that window, email us and we’ll restore the account in full.
After 30 days, we run a hard delete that purges Firestore documents, Storage objects, and authentication identity from our systems. Recovery is not possible after the hard delete.
6. Confirmation
When the hard delete completes, we send a confirmation email to the address on the deleted account. Note: by that point we will already have removed the Firebase Auth identity, so this confirmation is the last message you’ll receive from us.
